The Curry Case

Threatening to take Holly Curry’s young children into custody if she did not comply, a child protective services (CPS) investigator coerced her way into Holly’s home. Once inside, the investigator privately interviewed Holly’s oldest daughter and then strip-searched all six children (including her daughters) in front of a male police officer. To seek reparation for the emotional trauma suffered by Holly and her children and to prevent such invasive investigations of other families, HSLDA sued the investigator and police officer in federal court for violating the Currys’ Fourth and Fourteenth Amendment rights.
