HSLDA continues to lead the fight against discrimination by helping graduates who find themselves being denied college admission or jobs simply because they were homeschooled.

A homeschool graduate of an Arizona member family recently asked HSLDA for help when the State Board of Pharmacy (ASBP) required additional verification of her parent-issued high school diploma in order to grant her a license.

Valid Diploma

HSLDA Staff Attorney Tj Schmidt wrote a letter to the ASBP describing Arizona homeschool law and verifying that the graduate’s family had homeschooled her in compliance with that law. Schmidt argued that the State Board of Pharmacy should treat the homeschool graduate as any other graduate because she had completed all of the coursework necessary for her license.

A short time later, the homeschool graduate received word that her application for licensure had been approved.
