Email Key Members TONIGHT on Tax Reduction, Common Core Provisions

Homeschooling in Kansas

Call now to support freedom and fairness

Senior Counsel Scott Woodruff answers questions and assists members with legal issues in your state. He and his wife homeschooled their children.

Dear Kansas HSLDA members and friends:

Please email the 5 key leaders below tonight! They have been appointed as members of the "conference committee" that will negotiate tonight to try to come up with a version of HB 2506 to send back to both chambers for approval.

If they don't hear from you that tax fairness and defunding common core are important to you, they might view them as "expendable." They are not!

There will be pressure for both houses to enact whatever version of HB 2506 the committee members produce.  So sending a strong message to the committee members is super important.

There is a weak bill that is also still alive that deals with education issues but does not include a tax reduction or defunding of common core--SB 218.  We do not want that bill enacted. If it is, the legislature is likely to ignore HB 2506.

Most legislative staff have left, so phones will probably not be answered the rest of today or tomorrow.  Emails are our best avenue of communication.  Please email each of the members of the committee with this message, or one of your own choosing:

"Please support the Education Tax Fairness provisions of HB 2506 and the defunding of Common Core. Please vote 'no' on SB 218.  It fails to address the crucial issues of tax fairness and common core."

Representative Suellentrop   Gene.Suellentrop@house.ks.gov

Representative Kleeb   Marvin.Kleeb@house.ks.gov

Representative Henry  Jerry.Henry@house.ks.gov

Senator Denning  Jim.Denning@senate.ks.gov

Senator Hensley  Anthony.Hensley@senate.ks.gov

If you are educating your own children entirely at your own expense, as a simple matter of equity you should be relieved of at least part of the tax burden you would otherwise carry to educate children whose parents choose public school. That's the principle behind the Education Tax Fairness provisions.

Thank you for standing with us for freedom!
