Senator Barrasso is back in Wyoming for Recess—Time to Lobby on the CRPD

Homeschooling in Wyoming

Thank you for supporting parental rights.

HSLDA President Mike Smith has been an advocate for homeschooling for more than 30 years.

Dear Wyoming Members and Friends,

The U.S. Senate’s Foreign Relations Committee will hold hearings on the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) when they return to Washington, D.C. after the Memorial Day recess. Their first day back is June 3.

Senator Barrasso needs to hear from you: he is a member of the Foreign Relations Committee and voted in favor of the treaty last time it was presented to the Senate. We ask that you contact him to express your opposition to the treaty and encourage him to vote against it when it comes up again. The United States doesn’t need the CRPD and it must not be allowed to be ratified by the U.S. Senate.

Here are three ways that you can help!

1. Call and write Senator Barrasso and urge him to oppose the UN CRPD. See the senator’s contact information below.

2. Senator Barrasso will be back in Wyoming till June 3. While he is in the state we urge you to meet with the senator at one of the following addresses to talk about the treaty:

3. Email Senator Barrasso. Use our new emailing tool to personalize and send a prewritten letter to your senator by filling out your information.

Your message to your senator can be as simple as the following:

“I urge you to oppose the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. This treaty surrenders U.S. sovereignty to unelected UN bureaucrats and will threaten parental care of children with disabilities. Our nation already has laws to protect Americans with disabilities. This treaty is unnecessary and will hurt families by giving bureaucrats the power to decide what is in the best interests of a child with disabilities, not the child’s parents.”

To find out more about the CRPD or print out material for your visit with the senator click here. To read the text of the CRPD please click here.

Thank you for joining with us in this battle to protect our children and our children’s future. You defeated this treaty last year. Standing together, we can defeat this treaty once again.

For liberty,

Mike Smith
HSLDA President
