HSLDA Argues Equal Access Case in Maryland

Calvert County has refused to allow home schoolers to use the local community centers as meeting places for classes, workshops, or any kind of organized recreation. Although these rooms are generally available to all citizens of the community, home schoolers are denied access. HSLDA filed a lawsuit January 31, 2000, on behalf of our member families in Calvert County.

Last week, HSLDA argued our position before the judge. We asserted that the community centers were violating the First Amendment and that they did not have a legitimate interest in excluding home schoolers from the community centers.

We are currently awaiting a decision in this case, and we request your prayers for a just decision.
