Washington, DC - Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) President Michael Smith will be in Fresno, June 27 - 28, for the 18th Annual Christian Home Educators of the Fresno Area (CHEFA) Convention. Smith will be addressing approximately 1000 homeschoolers from around the state on a number of topics including "Remembering and Renewing - The History of the Home School Struggle to be Free."

HSLDA entered into its 20th Anniversary year this spring and has been at the forefront of the modern homeschool movement. "Fighting for a parents' right to homeschool has been our mission for 20 years," said Smith.

Homeschooling is entering the mainstream and this is in large part due to the efforts of the HSLDA legal team.

"Homeschool graduates are succeeding in all walks of life and consequently many more families are gaining the confidence to begin homeschooling for themselves," said Smith.

Michael Smith, homeschooling father of four, founded HSLDA with Michael Farris in 1983. In the last 20 years HSLDA has grown to over 75,000 member families and continues to defend the rights of homeschool families before the courts, state legislatures and Congress.
