Senate Bill 2459: Creating Mandatory Prekindergarten for Selected Counties

Summary:

This bill would create a pilot program for mandatory full-day prekindergarten in 18 Mississippi counties for 3-year-old and 4-year-old children. This would have the effect of lowering the compulsory school attendance age for all children in these districts. HSLDA opposes this unreasonable and unnecessary expansion of state control over education.
