Senate Bill 242: Subsidized Home Study Program for Disabled Children

Summary:

A parent of a child with a severe disability may enroll their child in a home study program (that includes an IEP) and receive payment equal to the amount a Vermont school would receive.

The child must meet the following requirements:

1) The child was enrolled in a public or approved independent school for at least four years;
2) The child had an IEP during the period of enrollment;
3) The agency of human services determined the child met the requirements of the highest needs group; and
4) As determined by the state board, the child's needs would best be by a home study program.
