House Bill 247: Requires Dependents on Income Tax Return to be Enrolled in School or Have a High School Diploma or GED

Summary:

This bill would require that before a person could be claimed as a dependent on an income tax return, the dependent (if 12 years of age or older and less than 19 years of age) would have to be enrolled in school or have received a high school diploma. HSLDA does not believe that dependency status should be linked to school enrollment.
