Senate Bill 582: Grants "Home-schooled" Students Access to Sports in the Public Schools
Sponsors:
Senator Michael J. Doherty
Summary:

This bill requires school districts to allow "home-schooled" students to participate in school-sponsored extracurricular activities in the student's resident district.

This bill is identical to A2723.

HSLDA's Position:
Oppose.

We oppose this bill as worded because it uses the undefined phrase "home-schooled student." This lack of definition could empower a judge to create his own definition, with possible adverse consequences to the homeschool community.

Action Requested:
None at this time
Status:

1/12/2016 Introduced in the Senate, Referred to Senate Education Committee
