Senate Bill 339: Narrowly Defines "Home School Student"

Summary:

This bill would define an "home school student" for purposes of receiving a promise scholarship as "a student who completed high school in a South Carolina home school in compliance with the provisions of Section 59-65-40 or 59-65-45." This definition leaves out homeschool graduates supervised by a homeschool associations that operate pursuant to Section 59-65-47. There are many homeschool students enrolled in these associations that should also be treated as eligible for the scholarship.

HSLDA's Position:

HSLDA supports amending this bill to include graduates of homeschool programs in compliance with Section 45-65-47 of the South Carolina Code of Laws.
