House Bill 980: Gives Home School Students Right To Participate In Public School Sports, Activities, Extracurricular Clubs; Requires Equivalent Academic Eligibility

Summary:

This bill would allow students who are exempt from public school attendance (homeschool students) to participate in public school extracurricular activities on the same basis as regular public school students. The bill would also allow the public school to assess a child to determine whether the child meets the academic requirements. The Department may adopt regulations to implement the requirements of this bill.
