House Bill 963: Creates Educational Requirements for Receipt of TANF Benefits

Summary:

This bill would require parents receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) benefits to "maintain a reasonable level of parental involvement in the child's school." Homeschooling parents would be required to "submit documentation of the child's course of study and evidence demonstrating that the child is making steady progress toward successful completion of the studies" upon request by the Department of Human Services.
