House Bill 3125: Gives Department of Social Services Authority to Temporarily Remove Child if Investigating Abuse or Neglect

Summary:

This bill gives the Department of Social Services discretionary authority to temporarily remove a child from the home and place him or her with a relative or alternative caregiver if it is investigating a report of abuse or neglect. The bill provides no minimum standard that must be met before the child may be removed. The bill also removes the current statutory requirement that the child's parent agree to placement with a relative.
