House Bill 269: Prohibits Adoption of National Education Standards
Sponsors:
Representative Henley
Summary:

This bill would prohibit the Mississippi Board of Education from participating in any federal education program that would require the Board to align state curriculum with “any national education agenda, standards or curriculum.” It would further require the Board to amend any current agreement with the federal government that requires curriculum to align with “college-and-career-ready standards put forth by the National Governors Association and the Council of Chief State School Officers.” This would lead to local education standards.
