Summary:

This resolution declares that the state of Wisconsin will work to create an environment for children that upholds the articles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).

HSLDA's Position:
Oppose.

The UNCRC undermines our American understanding of parental authority by elevating a child’s wishes over those of the parent.

Background:

AJR 78 is not a “bill” but a “resolution.” If it is adopted, it would not have the force of law, but it could be used to influence the U.S. Senate in directing the ratification of the UNCRC or in Wisconsin to implement principles of the UNCRC.
