Born in a New England blizzard and raised in the island paradise of Hawaii, Peter is the oldest of five children, all of whom were homeschooled from kindergarten through high school. Peter was the inaugural graduate of Keolahou Christian Academy (est. 1992, by Peter and Rhonda Kamakawiwoole), where he graduated first in his class (of one), earning the honorific of “guinea pig” along the way. After high school, Peter attended Patrick Henry College where he met and married his wife, Corrie, then earned his law degree from Saint Louis University School of Law.
Peter has been an HSLDA staff attorney since 2011, assisting member families in Connecticut, Nebraska, Rhode Island, Utah, Vermont, and his home state of Hawaii. Peter also assists families who have encountered difficulties in obtaining Social Security, veterans, and other financial benefits on account of their decision to homeschool. Finally, as a member of HSLDA’s litigation team, Peter assists in the legal defense of HSLDA member families across the country who face investigation or prosecution because of their decision to homeschool.
Peter and Corrie have five children and are recent transplants to the Wild and Wonderful state of West Virginia.
