House Bill 28: Change in Compulsory Attendance Age

Author:
Gregory Stumbo

Summary:
This bill would raise the compulsory attendance age from sixteen to eighteen. Parents who are home schooling would therefore have to file their affidavit or waiver two years longer than under current law.

Status:
The Kentucky Legislature has completed their session; they are currently dealing only with bills that the governor has vetoed. Thus, House Bill 28 is dead.

HSLDA's Position: This bill should be strongly opposed.
