Homeschoolers are Good Citizens

Homeschoolers are among America's most active citizens. When we teach our own children in our homes, we do the hard work of building a self-governing society. When we speak out about legislation that directly affects us, we fulfill our Founders' dream of participatory government.

More and more homeschoolers are going beyond the basics of teaching their own children and defending their own liberties, and are taking up a more active role in defining our collective destiny. Al and Sheryl Schmidt have risen to a position of leadership among Wyoming homeschoolers because of their faithful service to the homeschool community and to the people of Wyoming.

Here is a recent letter the Schmidts wrote to the Wyoming Legislature. It represents the finest kind of active citizenship: respectful, yet direct. As you train our children up to be this kind of citizen, you can look forward to an brighter future for Wyoming.
