Charges Dismissed Against Family
On Friday, February 28th, the Franklin County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court dismissed all charges against an HSLDA member who had been charged with truancy.
The member began homeschooling under the religious exemption before the family filed the appropriate paperwork with the county. When the county asked for the paperwork, there was a considerable delay before it was filed. Because of the delay, the county filed truancy charges.
Soon after the paperwork was filed, the county acknowledged the religious exemption. At the hearing on February 28, the judge dismissed all charges at the county's request.
