Tooele County Lags Behind

School officials in Tooele County have yet to update their homeschool paperwork in light of Utah’s new homeschool law. Although they keep revising their forms, there is no evidence that they have ever looked at the law as part of that revision process. Fortunately, Home School Legal Defense Association members in Tooele County continue to preserve their statutory and constitutional freedoms despite the district’s confusion.

There is no evidence that the Tooele County district officials are acting from evil intent. They just do not seem to believe the new law applies to them. We urge all HSLDA member families to notify us when a school district makes demands that conflict with state law. By standing firm and working together, even the most stubborn or negligent school officials can eventually be brought into line with the law.
