Criminal Truancy Case Dismissed Against Homeschooler

On August 12, 2008, the Bell criminal truancy case was dismissed—the day it was set for jury trial.

Six months earlier, the school district had criminal truancy charges filed against the Bells in apparent retaliation for Mrs. Bell choosing to home educate her children. HSLDA contacted the school district to have the charges dropped, but the district declined. HSLDA Texas attorney Tom Sanders worked on the case and was able to convince the Harris County Assistant District Attorney to agree to the dismissal.
