Truancy Charges Against Family Dismissed

After having problems in public school, the Whartons, a member family in Texas, withdrew their teenage son. At that time, the family sent a registered letter to the school to let officials know that he would no longer be attending. The son flourished in his homeschool environment.

However, the school district did not believe that the family was actually homeschooling and filed truancy charges.

Texas local counsel Tom Sanders contacted the justice of the peace who would be hearing the case. Sanders assisted the family in entering a plea of not guilty and asked for a trial date. Thankfully, before going to trial, Sanders negotiated with the judge and had all charges dismissed.

The family was very grateful for Sanders’ help in keeping their homeschool program up and running.
