Tennessee—Bills Make Public School Resources Available

Two bills introduced in the General Assembly of Tennessee would establish a pilot program which, among other things, would make public school resources available to homeschools.

House Bill 2904 introduced by Representative Harry Brooks (District 19) and Senate Bill 2782 introduced by Senator Jamie Woodson (District 6) would require school districts to:

  1. Permit homeschool students to enroll in up to two classes at public school at no charge;
  2. Make available to homeschools all public school curricula, reading plans, and lesson plans for teacher use;
  3. Make teacher training available to homeschooling parents; and
  4. Make nonconsumable educational materials for public school teachers available to homeschooling parents.

Home School Legal Defense Association takes a neutral position on this type of legislation.
