Bakersfield R-IV School District Misinterprets Missouri Home School Law

The Bakersfield R-IV School District sent a newsletter to all Bakersfield, Missouri, residents in which it stated under "*Reminders*" on the back of the newsletter:

"Those who plan to home school must send a letter to the superintendent's office stating there interest to do so and list the names and ages of their children."

Not only did they use the word "there" instead of "their," but they totally misstated the law by informing homeschoolers that they must send a letter to the superintendent's office. Homeschool families are not required to send any form of notification of their intent to homeschool to their superintendent at all.

HSLDA staff contacted Bakersfield R-IV School District and brought this mistake to their attention. They apologized profusely and promised to print a correction in their next newsletter.
