A Maine HSLDA member’s daughter applied to enroll in Mr. Bernard’s School of Hair Fashion, Inc., in Lewiston, Maine, with her eye on becoming a cosmetologist. The school wrote back and said they would not admit her because she was homeschooled.

HSLDA Senior Counsel Scott A. Woodruff wrote a letter to the school explaining that the diploma the young lady earned through her homeschool program fully satisfied all educational requirements for cosmetology.

The school promptly responded and agreed to admit her.
