Iowa Test Now Available in Louisiana

There is good news for homeschool families in Louisiana who want to administer the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) to their children. In past years homeschoolers have not been able to give their children the ITBS test for the end of year assessment. We understand that this was due to a restrictive contract between Riverside, the ITBS test publisher, and the Louisiana State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE).

While both Riverside and BESE have indicated to HSLDA and CHEF of Louisiana over the past few years that neither had a problem with the ITBS being used by homeschoolers, the test was still off limits.

However, after several years of negotiations, Form A of the ITBS is now available to homeschoolers in Louisiana. This is the same version of the test that is sold through Bob Jones University Press. If you have any questions regarding legally administering the ITBS please call HSLDA. If you would like information on how to procure the ITBS you can contact Bob Jones University Press at (800) 854-5731.
