Last year, the Idaho Legislature tried to pass a bill that would require a referendum to be added to the November Ballot, which would give voters an option to vote for or against an amendment to the Idaho Constitution making same-sex marriages illegal. The bill failed despite our efforts.
This year, we were alerted just in time by Barry Peters of the Idaho Coalition of Home Educators, about the bill being introduced again. Although we thought we were too late, we quickly put together an email that would be sent to all our e-lert subscribers in Idaho. The e-lert was sent out just in time to encourage enough members to call their representatives that the bill was voted through the House and on to the Senate!
By God's grace, and through all those who called to support the bill, the resolution passed the Senate and will now be placed on the November Ballots, allowing voters the option to decide whether their state will legalize same-sex marriages or not.
We praise God for this unlikely victory.
