International Speakers at Japanese Homeschool Conference

By Hiro Inaba

We have a prayer request for the upcoming Chea Japan 13th Annual Convention on May 23rd and 24th in Osaka and May 31st and June 1st in Tokyo.

This year’s keynote speakers are Zan and Joe Tyler. Zan is the founder of South Carolina Association of Independent Home Schools in the United States, an editor of Apologia, and the author of Seven Tools for Cultivating Your Child’s Potential. In 1984, the South Carolina State Superintendent of Education threatened Zan with jail. The Tyler family spent the next eight years fighting for the rights of South Carolina homeschoolers in the legislature, in the judicial system, and in the court of public opinion, along with HSLDA. Zan and Joe homeschooled each of their children from kindergarten through high school, for a total of twenty-one years. This is the second appearance for Zan and Joe at the Chea Japan Convention, with their first visit in 2006.

800 Japanese homeschoolers and prospective homeschool families attended last year’s Chea Japan Convention. Attendants came from all around Japan.

Please pray for God’s blessing on the convention and to foster homeschooling and spiritual movements in Japan.

Hiro Inaba is the President of CHEA Japan.
