Leendert van Oostrum, President Theocentric Christian Education Needs: We would like you to pray for us at Theocentric Christian Education
(TCE) for God’s continued guidance. Our aim is to train children and young
people in the Biblical worldview by supplying them with a system that is
based on the character qualities of God. Because we believe that we need to have well-educated Christians out there, the academic standard of our system is high. The system itself requires dedication, commitment, self-discipline and plain hard work from both parents and children, and we believe that this training is also extremely valuable, and actually essential, if we are to
produce Christian leaders of a high caliber for future generations. Because we believe that all of us need to be accountable to God, to one another and to the T.C.E. system, we have tests and exams, so that children really have to learn their work and not just think that they “know” it without ever having to prove it. We have families come and go because of the high standard, which some claim is too high and unnecessary, and this can be discouraging at times. Some believe that children should not be under any pressure and thus reject the idea of a structured curriculum, and of course, tests and exams. However, we believe that we need to be faithful to what God has called us to do, and we trust Him to send us enough customers to keep us in business! So when you pray for us, we would humbly ask that you pray that we will keep our vision clear and not be tempted to compromise; also, that we will hear clearly what the Lord wants us to do and in what direction we need to further develop the system (it is still really in the pioneering stage). |
