Taiwanese Families Help Fellow Homeschoolers in Hong Kong
February 19, 2013: Homeschoolers in Hong Kong and Taiwan learn from each other's shared homeschool experiences.

 Country Information

Compulsory Attendance Ages: 9 years required, generally 6-15

Legal Status: Although Hong Kong’s Education Ordinance (L.N. 116 of 1971, Ch. 279) requires school attendance, several families have gained exemptions to homeschool. Families must apply to the Hong Kong Education Bureau (EDB) for an exemption, which are granted on a case-by-case basis. Expatriates generally find it easier to homeschool than nationals.

Number of Homeschoolers: 50-100 families
