Decision in Romeike Political Asylum Case Delayed

The Romeikes will need to wait until 3:30 p.m. Central Time on Tuesday, January 26, before they know whether they will be granted political asylum. The Romeikes fled Germany in August 2008 after suffering persecution for homeschooling by German authorities. The reason for the delay is that the U.S. government failed to provide a routine background check of the Romeikes for today’s hearing to the immigration judge on time. However, we understand that the information will be made available to the judge shortly.
