Common Core in Illinois:
Illinois Common Core Learning Standards

At the beginning of the 2013–14 school year, Illinois’ previous academic standards were thrown out and replaced by the Common Core State Standards. The advance of the Common Core in Illinois is also marked by collaboration between secondary and postsecondary schools to create a streamlined curriculum from high school through college.

Common Core Legislation

HB 0543 was filed in August 2013 and is currently making its way through the Illinois legislature. The resolution urges lawmakers to delay the implementation of the Common Core standards both to review the untested nature of the standards and to analyze how the state will shoulder the cost of implementation. SB 3092 amends the P–20 Longitudinal Education Data System Act, limiting access to student information.
