Common Core in California:
California Content Standards

The Common Core is permeating many facets of education in California. The California Department of Education is working to align the definition of college and career readiness for California businesses and postsecondary institutions with the Common Core. Additionally, standards for technical instruction in California have been aligned to the Common Core.

Common Core Legislation


In 2013, ARA 484 authorized school district superintendents to begin using SBAC assessments in the 2013–14 school year instead of 2014–15 if they so choose.

S 0660 and A 0073 are both bills appropriating funds for Common Core implementation. AB 2307 would block funding for Common Core throughout the entire state.
