Consider using the high school years to help your child begin to develop good time management and organizational skills.  You may already have thought of some of these ideas, but just in case you haven’t, we wanted to suggest ideas that will help your child take on responsibilities that will serve him well into adulthood.

• Buy your child an alarm clock and require that getting up on time and beginning the day be his responsibility
• Have your child keep his own daily personal calendar and assignment book keeping track of his school work, job hours, activities (sports, music, etc.)
• Meet with your child once/week and help him plan out his schedule assisting him as he makes sure that his responsibilities are being met in the family, church, and homeschool
• Ask your child to make a list of some short and long term goals.  This will help your child to learn to set priorities and see plans be accomplished
