Archive: September 2008 9/29/2008 9:50:17 AM ISI Essay Contest ISI sponsors an annual essay contest in which homeschoolers are welcome (and even encouraged!) to participate. “George Washington and the Future of the American Presidency" is the topic for the essay this year.  Top prize is $1000 and the registration deadline is November 28, 2008 with essays due no later than January 23, 2009.  Check out ISI’s website for more details. Check your state’s law for this crucial date. If you have children who turned 18 this year, please encourage them to register to vote. A homeschool mom, Debbie Maubach, has developed a wonderful 9- week Homeschool Entrepreneur course for high schoolers.  The course covers many areas of interest including setting up a business plan, marketing strategies, setting prices, and much, much more!  The course provides step by step instructions including worksheets and many hands-on activities.  It’s a great resource to provide your budding entrepreneur with information he/she needs to launch a business while learning simple accounting, business skills, and advertising acumen.
