Safe Wireless Initiative Contest
Safe Wireless Initiative is running a cash prize essay contest entitled “Write to Know Contest” which is opened to homeschoolers. The purpose of the essay is to “inspire young writers to think critically about their right to know, not only about the health consequences of using cell phones and other wireless devices, but also their right to be made aware of the actions and inactions of representatives of industry, government and news media with regard to this safety question” according to a senior SWI associate. The contest will encompass two prize divisions - one for junior high and one for high school students. In each division, cash prizes of $2,500, $1,000 and $500 will be awarded for the top three places. All entrants to the contest must be sponsored by an active member of the Safe Wireless Initiative.
The submission deadline is June 10, 2007 with prizes being announced on July 10, 2007. The essay has a 1,000 maximum word count.
One of HSLDA’s members, Margo Doll, is willing to sponsor any student who wishes to submit an essay. You may contact her at PropSolutions@sbcglobal.net, subject line ESSAY or by phone at 661-947-9713.
