Summer Fine Arts Camps/Festivals

It’s not too early to investigate summer fine arts festivals and camps since most will require auditions, interviews, and more. Your teens’ teachers often have suggestions and information about those most beneficial to your teens, according to ability and future plans. Some Christian groups you may wish to learn more about include Master Works, Ballet Magnificat School of Arts or Credo Chamber Music.

Government Funding of College Financial Aid

College financial aid is available from both federal and state government entities.  HSLDA takes a neutral stance on the merits of accepting monies from the government for college expenses.  However, HSLDA will advocate on behalf of homeschool parents to ensure that a parent-issued diploma is as valid as a public or accredited private school diploma when seeking financial aid.

How Colleges Use SAT Scores in Admission Decisions

The College Board’s website collects information from colleges as to how they view SAT scores. Some colleges use the highest combined score of the three sections (math, critical reading, and writing) from any one test date, while other schools will use the highest section score from different test dates to arrive at the student’s highest combined test score. Because this info may change at any time, it is expedient to confirm with a specific college how it considers SAT section scores when making admission decisions.
