Magnolia Stands For Freedom
Dear HSLDA Members and Friends,
On Tuesday, July 8, citizens of Magnolia, Texas, successfully stood up for freedom and convinced the city council not to pass a proposed ordinance establishing a daytime curfew.
HSLDA member Mrs. Yates attended the meeting. She reported that about 75 citizens attended the standing-room only hearing to oppose the ordinance. The chief of police, two councilors, and numerous concerned citizens and business owners all testified against the proposed curfew. HSLDA had sent out an e-lert just hours before the hearing, notifying you of our opposition.
After listening to about 20 speeches in opposition, the police chief proposed that the ordinance be allowed to die without even coming to a vote, and the crowd applauded and cheered.
Good work, citizens of Magnolia! HSLDA salutes you for your love of freedom.
Darren A. Jones
