Dear HSLDA Members and Friends,

We have just received word that the City Council of Magnolia is holding a public hearing on a proposed daytime curfew. HSLDA opposes daytime curfews in general, and we would encourage homeschoolers to attend the hearing to oppose the measure.

Where: Magnolia City Hall, Sewall Smith Council Chambers, 18111 Buddy Riley Blvd, Magnolia, Texas 77354

When: Tuesday, July 8, at 7:00 p.m.

Click here to view the proposed ordinance.

Even when daytime curfews include an exception for homeschooled students, as this one does, HSLDA still opposes them. Juveniles can and will be stopped on public streets during public school hours and questioned by law enforcement for no other reason than merely being in public.

Click here for more information about HSLDA’s position on daytime curfews.

Sincerely,

Darren A. Jones
HSLDA Staff Attorney
