Dear West Virginia Members and Friends,

This week, the House of Delegates is considering House Bill 4463, a bill which significantly infringes upon First Amendment rights by increasing regulations on campaign contributions. This legislation will make numerous changes to the laws governing the financing of campaigns and election practices by placing further restrictions on advocacy groups’ ability to speak about and campaign for candidates.

In doing so, this bill will severely inhibit the ability of advocacy groups, including local and state homeschool organizations, to be involved in elections and to support candidates with shared values and beliefs. HB 4463 amounts to an unconstitutional restraint on free speech and hinders political discourse, which is key to the democratic process.

Requested Action

Please call your delegate and give him or her this message:

“I’m calling to oppose House Bill 4463. This bill restricts the free speech rights of Americans to talk with and about their elected representatives through advocacy organizations. The ability to engage in the political process is a fundamental part of the American democratic process. Please vote against HB 4463.”

You can find your delegate and his contact information here.

Thank you for all you do in defense of freedom for families in the great state of West Virginia!
