Dear HSLDA Members and Friends:

Many of you may be familiar with the Common Core and the move across the country to oppose it. While the Common Core does not directly impact homeschoolers, there are many potential indirect implications for the homeschool community. HSLDA is opposed to the Common Core and the national control of the educational policy of the various states that come with it. For more information about the Common Core and what it is about go to: www.hslda.org/commoncore .

We would like you to know that there are currently a total of seven bills that have been introduced in the Oklahoma legislature to repeal or pause the Common Core in Oklahoma. Because some within the Oklahoma legislature are unwilling to have these bills heard, a group of concerned Oklahomans are planning a silent protest for Monday February 17 at the Capitol. If you can come to the Capitol and take a state against the Common Core we strongly urge you to do so. For more information about the event on February 17 please see this document.

Thank you for your part in fighting for education freedom and local control of state educational policies in Oklahoma!

Sincerely,

/signature/
