Dear Idaho Members and Friends,

The U.S. Senate’s Foreign Relations Committee will hold hearings on the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) when they return to Washington, D.C. after the Memorial Day recess. Their first day back is June 3.

Senator Risch needs to hear from you: he is a member of the Foreign Relations Committee and voted against the treaty last time it was presented to the Senate. We ask that you contact him to thank him for voting against it and encourage him to stand strong against it when it comes up again. The United States doesn’t need the CRPD, and it must not be allowed to be ratified by the U.S. Senate.

Here are three ways that you can help!

1. Call and write Senator Risch and urge him to oppose the UN CRPD. See the senator’s contact information below.

2. Senator Risch will be back in Idaho till June 3. While he is in the state we urge you to meet with the senator at one of the following addresses to talk about the treaty:

Boise
350 N. 9th St., Suite 302
Boise, Idaho 83702
Phone: 208-342-7985

Coeur d’Alene
Harbor Plaza 610 Hubbard, Suite 213
Coeur d’Alene, Idaho 83814
Phone: 208-667-6130

Idaho Falls
901 Pier View Drive, Suite 202A
Idaho Falls, Idaho 83402
Phone: 208-523-5541

Lewiston
313 D Street, Suite 106
Lewiston, Idaho 83501
Phone: 208-743-0792

Pocatello

Phone: 208-236-6817

Twin Falls
1411 Falls Avenue East, Suite 201
Twin Falls, Idaho 83301
Phone: 208-734-6780

Senator Risch’s Washington office:

Washington, D.C.
SR-483 Russell Sen. Office Building
Washington, D.C. 20510
Phone: 202-224-2752

3. Email Senator Risch. Use our new emailing tool to personalize and send a prewritten letter to your senator by filling out your information here.

Your message to your senator can be as simple as the following:

“I urge you to oppose the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. This treaty surrenders U.S. sovereignty to unelected UN bureaucrats and will threaten parental care of children with disabilities. Our nation already has laws to protect Americans with disabilities. This treaty is unnecessary and will hurt families by giving bureaucrats the power to decide what is in the best interests of a child with disabilities, not the child's parents.”

Thank you for joining with us in this battle to protect our children and our children’s future. You defeated this treaty last year. Standing together, we can defeat this treaty once again.

For liberty,

Michael P. Farris, JD, LLM,
Chairman, HSLDA

How Long are You in For?

Some families are facing what seems like a lifelong commitment to homeschooling, with children at both ends of the spectrum— some graduating and some just reaching school age. If you’re going to be “in” for a while, consider a lifetime membership with HSLDA. It’s a good deal for families with more than 10 years of homeschooling ahead.
