URGENT Calls Needed NOW to Protect Parental Rights

Dear HSLDA Members and Friends,

Two bills that threaten parental rights are rapidly moving through the
legislature. Senate Bill 215 was amended yesterday to prohibit and
restrict parents in choosing health care providers for their children
under 8 years old. The bill restricts parents from taking their
children to "alternative" health care providers.

The bill is now under final consideration in the Senate conference
committee to resolve the differences between the House and Senate
versions of the bill. This may be the last chance to remove this
harmful language from SB 215.

Additionally, House Bill 1111 also restricts parents from making
health care choices for their children by restricting parents from
seeking treatment from naturopathic doctors for their children under 8
years old.

Please contact your senator IMMEDIATELY and give them the following
messages in your own words:

"I am calling to oppose Representative Young's amendment to SB 215
that restricts the right of parents to choose health care providers
for their children under 8. Parents have a fundamental right to make
decisions concerning the care of their children. SB 215 robs parents
of these decisions and violates their parental rights. Please vote to
amend SB 215, specifically to remove Representative Young's amendment
that prohibits parents from taking their children to alternative or
other health care providers. I am also calling to oppose House Bill
1111, which restricts a parent's right to choose health care providers
by limiting access to naturopathic doctors and placing prohibitions on
seeking treatment. Please oppose HB 1111."

You can find the contact information of your senator and
representative here:

Also, please contact the three Republican representatives who voted in
favor of the amendment to SB 215 and against parental rights on
Monday. In your own words, ask them why they voted against parental
rights and why they do not support parents' decisions in choosing
health care providers for their children.

The three representatives and their contact information are:

Representative Kevin Priola,

Representative Bob Gardner,

Representative Cheri Gerou
