====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== Pre-register while there is still time and save $15 Dear HSLDA Members and Friends: The Christian Home Educators Association (CHEA) of California presents the 26th Annual Bay Area CHEA Homeschool Convention http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=17496 , set for April 12-13, 2013 at the Santa Clara Convention Center and Hyatt Hotel in Santa Clara, CA. The deadline for online pre-registration is today, Monday, March 11 at 5p.m. When you pre-register, you will save $15 from the at-the-door prices. There will be no extension of the pre-registration deadline. Topics for the nearly 30 convention workshops include elementary and high school teaching overviews, marriage, learning disabilities, frugal living, choosing curriculum, home organization, and much more. The Convention will feature Keynote Speakers Hal and Melanie Young, authors of Raising Real Men. The Youngs will be speaking on discipling your children, perseverance, marriage, raising boys, fathers and homeschooling, and meal planning. Daniel Craig of CollegePlus is the speaker for the Teen Convention--Equipping the Next Generation for Real Life (ages 12-18). Descriptions of the teen workshops, which include Entrepreneurship and Earning a Bachelor's Degree by Age 18 are provided on the CHEA website: www.cheaofca.org. The Teen Convention offers four sessions for just $20. Carr Ministries will present an onsite Children's Convention focusing on the wonders of electricity while exploring the lives of those who were changed by God's power (ages 4-12) for $32 on April 13. Pre-registration is recommended as this usually sells out. Mike Smith of HSLDA will hold workshops, Your Future to Homeschool--Secure or Not? And a Legal Legislative Update. Other highlights include an Exhibit Hall with 100 booths http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=17500 , exhibitor workshops to showcase products and curriculum, and an Ultimate Giveaway with prizes. A Leadership Conference takes place April 12 and requires separate registration. The public is invited to come to a free Introduction to Home Education session at 6 p.m. Friday, April 12 featuring a panel of homeschool veterans to answer the audience's questions. Parents of preschoolers whose oldest child is five or younger and who have never attended a CHEA Convention can request free attendance by calling 562-864-2432 by March 11 at 5 p.m. You may also attend for FREE if you are one of CHEA's Premium Members.
