Mike Smith -- HSLDA
Deadline to Register for Lobby Training Approaching!

From the HSLDA E-lert Service...

Dear HSLDA Members and Friends,

The climate in Washington, D.C. is turning more and more towards a
philosophy that the federal government knows best. Our battles to
protect homeschooling and parental rights are growing. We need your

HSLDA created the Congressional Action Program (CAP) so that
homeschool families can meet and talk to members of Congress on very
important issues. Members of Congress seeing and getting to know
homeschoolers face to face is essential to homeschool success in
Washington D.C.

However, before you can join our lobbying efforts, we ask our families
to go through our one-day training program. (We offer this training
once a year.) The lobby training day is to inform you of the battles
we currently face in Washington, D.C. and equip you with the tools you
will need to come along side us in protecting homeschooling
nationwide. We will go through legislation and practice lobbying
techniques, and ways you can make your voice heard.

Our next CAP training and preparation day will be held on Monday,
March 4, 2013, at Patrick Henry College in Purcellville, VA. We will
start at 10:00 a.m., take a break for lunch at noon, and then wrap up
by 3:30 p.m. Registration for this event is ending February 27th.
How do I sign up?

1. To participate in the CAP training day, each family must be members
of HSLDA and complete the CAP Lobbyist Application .

2. Who can participate? We do not have an age requirement for
attendance. Anyone that can sit for several hours at a time can
attend. We do not provide child care.

3. This is a great time to invite friends to join HSLDA and get involved in CAP
lobbying! They will also need to fill out a CAP registration form.

4. Cost: There is a fee of $15 per family to help subsidize lunch
expenses. However, if you have paid to attend any of the previous CAP
training days, the fee is waived.

5. Travel: We do not provide overnight accommodations but as an HSLDA
