====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== New Mexico: CAPE at the Capitol--Thursday! Dear HSLDA Members and Friends, One great way to participate in protecting home education freedom in New Mexico and an excellent opportunity to learn more about the legislature is to attend the CAPE at the Capitol event this Thursday, February 7, 2013. The whole family is welcome to come and learn more about New Mexico government and history, while being ambassadors for home education. The more homeschool families New Mexico legislators get to know, the more likely they are to protect homeschool freedom. Make your plans now to attend the 17th annual CAPE at the Capitol event. For more information on how you can participate go to: http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=17082 While pre-registration is now closed, CAPE would love to have as many home education families at the CAPE at the Capitol event as possible. Over the years of working at HSLDA I can attest to the importance of having homeschool families participate in events such as CAPE at the Capitol. When legislators meet actual homeschool families and see our children, they have a new appreciation for all that you do. Your attendance at the CAPE at the Capitol event as a homeschool ambassador will help protect the continued freedom of home education for this generation and beyond. Please come and enjoy an exciting day with other homeschool families touring the Capitol even if you have not pre-registered. You will be able to participate in the orientation at 9 a.m. in Room 307 (subject to change) and all of the other events of the day. CAPE would like to remind homeschool families to arrive early, especially if you aren't used to finding your way around. CAPE information and resource will be available in a mobile office at the Capitol. All of the tables in the Hall of History were reserved earlier than normal this year so CAPE will not have their normal meeting place/table outside the Rotunda. Here is the CAPE at the Capitol schedule: 8:30 a.m.: Pick up your packets and nametags (if pre-registered) in Room 307 8:45 a.m.: Everyone gather in Room 307 (Legislative Finance Committee Room; west side, up one floor from main floor) 9:00 a.m. SHARP: CAPE has scheduled a very special guest speaker, subject to schedule conflicts and emergencies, so please plan to be seated at 9 a.m. During orientation CAPE will go over the basics and provide a lot of helpful information to make your day a fun and productive day! 10:00 a.m.: Presentation of Proclamation (in the Rotunda, the center of the Roundhouse on the second floor) 11:00 a.m. Group photo The remainder of the day is unscheduled to allow you to meet legislators, tour the Roundhouse, observe sessions and committee hearings and grab a bite to eat (or bring your own). For additional information to plan your trip you can check out: http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=17083 . We hope you will make your plans now to attend the 17th Annual CAPE at the Capitol! Very truly yours, Thomas J. (Tj) Schmidt HSLDA Staff Attorney P.S. We greatly value you and your support--it is a privilege to serve you! But we do know that gathering little by little enables ordinary folks to prepare for hard times. That principle is behind HSLDA's payment plan: by paying a month at a time, families can receive an annual HSLDA membership. Meanwhile, they can feel secure as they homeschool and focus on other priorities -- their children. Don't go nuts trying to pay for membership all at once--choose our convenient payment plan.
