HSLDA Hosting a Lobby Training Day to Equip
You to Protect Homeschool Freedom in Washington, D.C.

Sixth Annual Congressional Action Program
(CAP) Training Day--March 4, 2013!

Dear HSLDA Members and Friends,

As the climate in Washington, D.C. turns more and more towards a
philosophy of United Nations and federal control, our battles to
protect homeschooling and parental rights are growing. Senate
Majority Leader Harry Reid (NV) has already promised to bring up the
UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) this
Congress. This UN treaty is a huge threat to parental rights and the
homeschooling of children with special needs. We will actively
continue to fight against this treaty in the upcoming months, and we
can use your help!

HSLDA created the Congressional Action Program (CAP) so that
homeschool families can meet and talk to members of Congress on these
very important issues. Before you can join our lobbying efforts, we
ask our families to complete our one-day training program. (We offer
this training once a year.)

The CAP training day is to inform you of the battles we currently face
in Washington, D.C. and equip you with the tools to come along side us
in protecting homeschooling nationwide. We will address legislation
and practice lobbying techniques and ways you can make your voice

Our next CAP training and preparation day will be held on Monday,
March 4, 2013, at Patrick Henry College in Purcellville, VA. We will
start at 10:00 a.m., take a break for lunch at noon, and then wrap up
by 3:30 p.m.

How do I sign up?

1. To participate in the CAP training day, each family must be members
of HSLDA and complete the CAP Lobbyist Application.

2. This is a great time to invite friends to join HSLDA and get involved in CAP
lobbying! They will also need to fill out a CAP registration form.

3. COST: There is a fee of $15 per family to help subsidize lunch
expenses. However, if you have paid to attend any of the previous CAP
training days, the fee is waived.

4. TRAVEL: We do not provide overnight accommodations, but as an HSLDA
member, you can take advantage of a 15 percent discount with Choice
Hotels . There are several
other hotels in the Leesburg, VA area as well.

If you have any questions, please visit our CAP website or contact
Melanie Palazzo at or (540) 338-5600.

Thank for standing with us for freedom.

Very truly yours,

J. Michael Smith, Esq.
President, HSLDA

William A. Estrada, Esq.
Director, HSLDA Federal Relations

-> Remember the last time you wrote a term paper?

Research can be grueling-digging through archives, wading through
articles, conducting interviews. But if it's related to
homeschooling, you can relax a little. There's a good chance that
you'll find what you're looking for in HSLDA's bimonthly
Home School Court Report. Providing in-depth, insightful articles
on much of what affects the world of homeschoolers, the
Court Report is a must-read for the serious homeschooler. This
publication is provided free to each HSLDA member.
