====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== Virginia--Call Members of House Now, Only Dear HSLDA Members and Friends, Today Senator Reeves' parents' rights bill, SB 908, passed the Virginia Senate with significant bipartisan support on a vote of 24 in favor, 16 against! The battle now shifts to the House of Delegates. Calls to members of the House of Delegates are now extremely important! A bill must pass both houses before it can become law. Just as your phone calls were instrumental in achieving a favorable vote on SB 908, they are also crucial in building support for the parents' rights bill pending in the House of Delegates, HB 1642. It faces a crucial committee vote tomorrow! ACTION REQUESTED Today or tomorrow morning, please call your Virginia state delegate, if you have not yet spoken to him or her. Your message can be as simple as, "Please vote yes on HB 1642. Parents can no longer afford for the General Assembly to be silent as to how their rights should be protected." BACKGROUND If HB 1642 passes its committee vote tomorrow, it could be presented to the full House of Delegates for a vote just a few days later. We are therefore asking you to call your delegate even if he or she is not on the committee that will take action on the bill tomorrow (the House Courts of Justice Committee).
