====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== Kansas: Please call your Senators now and urge them to oppose UN Disability Treaty Dear HSLDA Members and Friends, The U.S. Senate will hold a straight up-or-down vote on ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) on Tuesday, December 4. This past Monday, the U.S. Senate decided, by a vote of 61-36, to begin debate on ratification of the CRPD. Kansas Senator Jerry Moran was one of 36 senators who opposed taking up the CRPD, and we are grateful for his support. Senator Pat Roberts was not present during the vote. Both of these senators are facing tremendous pressure from outside groups to vote for the treaty. Please contact Senator Jerry Moran (you can thank him for his initial vote) and Senator Pat Roberts and urge them to stand against attacks on parental rights and intrusive United Nations treaties. Then, please forward this email to your friends and family in Kansas and urge them to call as well. You can also post this information on social media to help get the word out to parents and freedom-loving people in Kansas. Call Senator Roberts at his Washington, D.C., office as well as one or more of his district offices. You may consider also sending an email - http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=16361 - or visiting a district office in person. Washington, D.C. This treaty surrenders U.S. sovereignty to unelected UN bureaucrats and will threaten parental care of children with disabilities. Our nation already has laws to protect disabled Americans. This treaty is unnecessary and will hurt families. If the Senate ratifies this treaty, it would be the first time ever that the U.S. has ratified a treaty that obligates us to recognize economic, social, and cultural entitlements as rights under domestic law." Click here for more information on the dangers of this treaty: http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=16364 Your contact will make a difference. In the past few days, we have seen several other conservative senators who had been waffling on the CRPD come out and strongly oppose it--all because of the calls and emails they received from parents like you. Thank you for standing with us for freedom. Sincerely, Scott A.
